Corinth is considered a German Impressionist painter and a graphic artist. After an apoplectic stroke in 1911 his work became radically different. Whereas prior to his illness he painted portraits, nudes and historical subjects in warm and sensual colors, his later works are tormented and animated by harsh colors. He died in Zandvoort, Holland in 1925.
