Collection of Gemaldegalerie Neue Meister

The New Masters Gallery, Galerie Neue Meister, in Dresden, Germany is one of ten museums that make up the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden (State Art Collections).  The New Masters Gallery collection grew out of the Old Masters Gallery as contemporary works continued to be purchased after 1843.  The New Masters exhibits art from the early nineteenth century and classic modernism through the present day.  The main focus of the collection is German romanticism and German and French Impressionism including works from Dix, Van Gogh, and Monet.  There are also a number of sculptures on exhibit.
