Collection of Virginia Museum of Fine Arts


The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, VMFA, is located in Richmond, Virginia.  The art museum, owned and operated by the Commonwealth of Virginia, opened in 1936.  VMFA began with a donation of 50 paintings but has grown into a collection of over 22,000 works of art.  The collection includes the largest collection of Faberge outside Russia and one of the country’s finest collections of American art.  VMFA also holds collections of English Silver, Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, British Sporting and Contemporary art as well as South Asian, Himalayan and African art.
