I (my friend, mother, co-worker etc...) has an original Vincent van Gogh Painting that I (found in an attic, bought at a flea market etc...). Do you know how much it is worth, or how I can find out?

ANSWER.

If it truly is an ORIGINAL Vincent van Gogh painting that you or someone else has found the price would be outlandishly high. It would be one of the greatest lost paintings ever found. However, chances are it is either a very old print, with or without faux brush strokes or a reproduction by another artist. A print (regardless of age) has little or no value. A reproduction (depending on who painted it, and its age) can have some value.

Did Vincent van Gogh really cut off his whole ear?

ANSWER.

Not exactly, in a fit of madness Van Gogh only cut off a portion of his left ear lobe. Not his entire ear as is thought by many.


QUESTION.

How many paintings did Van Gogh sell during his lifetime?

ANSWER.

Van Gogh only sold one painting during his lifetime Red Vineyard at Arles. This painting now resides at the Pushkin Museum in Moscow. The rest of Van Gogh's more than 900 paintings were not sold or made famous until after his death.
